Tom McHugh, AIA, is an award- winning Architect, Interior and Furniture Designer with over thirty five years of experience on a variety of projects types, sizes, and complexities; with concentration on corporate interiors, law firms, hospitality, and libraries.
He has worked for prestigious architectural firms in the US and London, including S.O.M., Maxwell Frey and Jane Drew, William Wurster, and Paolo Soleri. He is a pioneer in alternate officing concept in the US and England, and was one of the first designers to implement “hoteling” offices in America.
Mr. McHugh has recently been included in the new Museum of Modern Art book, ‘The Design Encyclopedia’, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Savannah College of Art and Design.
His designs have won numerous awards and have been exhibited at galleries in the US and Canada, including the Cooper Hewitt and the National Building Museum. He is a founding member of Tabula Rasa, a Philadelphia based art group whose mission is to put the ‘art ‘back into architecture.
His lamps are minimalistic, yet sensuous; timely, yet timeless; with concern for the way the user will experience the object; and how the object adds value to the space.
