James Long

James Long

James is an industrial design graduate of RISD. After graduation he worked with Brown Jordan, Helikon and Lightolier. The latter would lead him to New York to pursue a wide variety of lighting design projects with Designetics, Gensler, Citicorp, Burlington House, IDS American Express, Travelers, Lutron and The New York Botanical Gardens.

Recently collaborating with Agence Patrick Jouin for the design of Gilt restaurant featured in the March 2006 issue of Interior Design. Select projects include continued collaborations with Agence Patrick Jouin, residential projects with Openshop architects, showroom and offices of New York fashion designer Susana Monaco and the Andre Balaz boutique hotel QT.

James taught lighting design at Parsons School of Design, F.I.T. and Pratt Institute. He was US technical advisor for London based Cassell Publishers Ltd. for a residential lighting book.
