CRISTIAN DIEZ

 

Industrial Designer, Graphic Designer and Interior Design Architect born in Santiago de Chile, graduated on Architecture and with studies on Metal Engraving and Drawing.

 

Living in Barcelona, Spain since 1976, Mr. Diez has worked in different creative fields.

 

As Craftsman in his youth worked in a family workshop, developing new techniques using copper to create decorative objects, and participating in different exhibitions as the International Exhibition of Crafts of the Americas from the University of Denver Colorado, USA, organized by the Smithsonian Institute in 1974.

 

As Industrial Designer working and collaborating in the field of lighting, for more than 30 years, with different companies from Spain, Holland, the United Kingdom and the USA, with products in different Catalogues as the Nessen/Agusti Collection in the Nessen Catalogue since 1982.

 

As Interior Architect the work has been primarily dedicated to the restructuring and renovation of several apartments in old buildings of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.

 

As an Artist has experimented with different techniques working on pencil drawings in black and white or color, metal engraving, mixed media large format digital printing with pastel and waxes, and acrylic from small format to mural space paintings over panel cardboard or canvas. With his works has taken part in various group exhibitions and biennials and has held also two solo exhibitions of drawings, etchings and paintings.

 

As a Graphic Designer has collaborated for many years with different lighting companies in the USA, Holland, Spain and Italy, not only in the design of their catalogues but also in monitoring the whole process of editing the catalogues from the photo shoot to the final print. Actually more dedicated to design websites for apartment rental business.

 

His works have received several recognitions in different countries as the one from the Interior Design Magazine considering the Nessen/Agusti Lamp Collection one of the best products of the year in 1983.
